6th Grade Choir

6th Grade Choir is open to all 6th grade students enrolled at SMS who would like to sing! No audition is required. 6th Grade Choir performs at the December Concert, March Concert, and May Concert. In 6th Grade Choir, students learn how to read music, match pitch, and sing with beautiful, healthy vocal technique.​

7th Grade Choir is open to all 7th grade students enrolled at SMS who would like to sing! No audition is required. 7th Grade Choir performs at the November Concert, March Concert, and May Concert. In 7th Grade Choir, students build upon what they learned in their 6th Grade year and sing in more parts, learn how to sing healthfully while navigating voice changes, and learn harder music. By 7th Grade, students travel for the first time on their very first choir field trip to Leavenworth, Washington!

8th Grade Choir

8th Grade Choir is open to all 8th grade students enrolled at SMS who would like to sing! No audition is required. 8th Grade Choir performs at the November Concert, March Concert, May Concert, and the District Choir Concert at the beginning of March. In 8th Grade, students continue to sing challenging music and sight read to prepare for choir at the high school level. Additionally, 8th Grade Choir represents SMS Choirs at the Eastshore Choral Festival and at the Music In The Parks Festival at Wild Waves Theme Park.

Jazz Choir

Jazz Choir exclusively studies and performs vocal jazz music. Jazz Choir meets every day after school and is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who are currently enrolled in either 7th Grade Choir, 8th Grade Choir, or Concert Choir. Jazz Choir performs at the November Concert, March Concert, May Concert, and SVSD District Vocal Jazz Night at the beginning of April. Students in Jazz Choir learn about jazz standards, jazz history, jazz vocal technique, and transcription.
